Usui Reiki Ryoho
What Is Usui Reiki Ryōhō?
A traditional Japanese practice of energy healing, self-awareness, and inner balance.
Usui Reiki Ryōhō is a Japanese spiritual and healing practice developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. The word Reiki is commonly understood as referring to universal life energy, while Ryōhō means healing method or therapeutic practice.
Reiki is practised through gentle, mindful hand placements, either on or just above the body, with the intention of supporting relaxation, balance, and overall well-being. It offers a quiet space to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with yourself.
At its heart, Reiki is not simply something you receive from another person. It is a practice of cultivating awareness, presence, and a deeper relationship with yourself and the energy of life.
What Can Reiki Offer You?
Reiki may support you in:
Encouraging deep relaxation and a sense of calm.
Developing greater awareness of your body and inner experience.
Creating space for reflection, meditation, and personal growth.
Supporting your relationship with yourself through periods of change or stress.
Cultivating a regular practice of mindfulness and self-care.
People experience Reiki in different ways. Some notice warmth, subtle sensations, or a deep sense of peace, while others simply enjoy the opportunity to rest and be present. There is no particular sensation you need to experience for the practice to be meaningful.
Learning Reiki
Studying Usui Reiki Ryōhō offers an opportunity to explore the practice for yourself, develop your understanding of its traditional principles, and cultivate a personal practice that can grow with you over time.
Whether you are drawn to Reiki for personal development, spiritual exploration, or the intention to offer Reiki to others, the journey begins with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to slow down and listen.
Reiki is an invitation to return to presence, cultivate inner balance, and approach yourself and others with greater compassion.
Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
The Three Levels of Usui Reiki Ryōhō
The study of Usui Reiki Ryōhō unfolds through three levels of learning, each offering a deeper relationship with the practice. From cultivating a personal self-healing practice to working with others and eventually becoming a Reiki Master and Teacher, each level builds upon the foundations of the one before it.
Level I — The Foundation of Self-Healing - $350
Returning to yourself. Cultivating presence. Building a personal practice.
The first level of Reiki is centred on self-healing, self-awareness, and developing a personal relationship with Reiki energy. It introduces you to the foundational principles and practices of Reiki, teaching you how to work with the practice in your everyday life.
Through learning hand placements, developing mindful awareness, and establishing a regular self-treatment practice, you begin creating space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and cultivate a greater sense of inner balance.
Level I is an opportunity to turn your attention inward. It encourages you to become more present with your physical, emotional, and energetic experiences while developing a compassionate relationship with yourself.
This level provides the foundation for everything that follows. Before offering Reiki to others, you are invited to experience the practice for yourself and allow it to become part of your own journey.
Level I focuses on:
Understanding the foundations and principles of Usui Reiki Ryōhō.
Learning traditional hand placements for self-treatment.
Establishing a consistent personal Reiki practice.
Cultivating mindfulness, presence, and self-awareness.
Exploring Reiki as a complementary practice for relaxation and personal growth.
Level II — The Practitioner - $700
Extending your practice. Supporting others. Deepening your understanding.
The second level builds upon the foundations of Level I and introduces the next stage of Reiki practice: offering Reiki to others.
Students deepen their understanding of the practice and learn additional traditional techniques, which may include Reiki symbols and their associated uses, depending on the lineage and teaching approach. Level II also commonly introduces distance Reiki, allowing practitioners to work with the practice beyond direct, in-person contact.
This level supports the development of confidence, intention, and a responsible approach to working with others. Students explore how to create a calm, respectful space for Reiki sessions and how to approach the practice with care, integrity, and appropriate boundaries.
For those who feel called to offer Reiki professionally or informally, Level II provides the foundation for beginning that journey.
Level II focuses on:
Developing the skills to offer Reiki to others.
Learning traditional symbols and techniques within the lineage being taught.
Exploring distance Reiki.
Developing confidence in facilitating Reiki sessions.
Understanding practitioner ethics, consent, and professional boundaries.
Level III — Reiki Master and Teacher - $1400
Embodying the practice. Deepening your commitment. Guiding others.
The third level represents a deeper commitment to the Reiki path. It invites you to take greater ownership of your practice, continue developing your understanding, and explore what it means to embody the principles of Reiki in your daily life.
At this level, students learn the Master-level teachings and techniques of their lineage. With the appropriate training and preparation, they can become independent Reiki Masters, continuing their own practice while supporting others in their Reiki journeys.
For those who choose the Master Teacher pathway, this level also includes learning how to teach Reiki, guide students through the levels, and conduct the attunements or initiations used within their particular tradition.
Becoming a Reiki Master is not simply about reaching the highest level. It is an ongoing relationship with the practice, grounded in humility, responsibility, continued learning, and a willingness to lead by example.
Level III focuses on:
Deepening your personal relationship with Reiki.
Learning Master-level teachings and techniques.
Developing the confidence and understanding to practise independently as a Reiki Master.
Learning to teach and guide future students, where included in the Master Teacher training.
Taking responsibility for carrying the teachings forward with integrity.
Your Reiki Journey
Each level offers a different opportunity for growth. You may choose to study Reiki for your own personal development, to support others through practitioner work, or to eventually teach and guide students of your own.
There is no need to rush the process. Each stage offers time to practise, integrate what you have learned, and develop a relationship with Reiki that is meaningful to you.
Your journey begins with yourself and can grow into a lifelong practice of presence, compassion, and service.
